Episode 1 · Season 1
Traditional tailoring is beautiful, but it can be a cage. My goal with 're-imagined tailoring' is to treat the suit like an architectural canvas—playing with asymmetry, cutouts, and structure to make menswear expressive, emotional, and bold

From Episode 1: THE KING OF RE-IMAGINED TAILORING | DICKSON LIM

Biography

Dickson Lim is a breakout avant-garde fashion designer and tailor from Kuching, Sarawak, known for entirely redefining classic menswear. Raised in an environment surrounded by traditional tailoring—his father operates a conventional tailor shop in Kuching—Dickson chose to forge a completely unique path. Rather than adhering to classic rules, he dropped out of formal higher education and taught himself high-fashion construction, structural pattern-making, and conceptual design from scratch.

Without any formal fashion school background, he launched his eponymous label, DICKSON LIM, which quickly captured international attention for its razor-sharp asymmetry, architectural silhouettes, and "re-imagined" tailoring. His rapid rise hit an extraordinary milestone when his custom designs were featured at the Met Gala, cementing his place as one of Sarawak’s most successful global creative exports and earning him features in international publications like Vogue.
